[Guangdong Health Online] First in China! AI “Bei Family” Adds New Members to Address Inpatient Care and Surgical Safety Challenges

Jun-25, 2026

On December 7, the Fifth China (Shenzhen) Smart Hospital Forum opened in Shenzhen. At the event, Peking University Shenzhen Hospital (hereinafter referred to as “PKU Shenzhen Hospital”) officially released “Bei Xiaohu,” China’s first accompaniment-free care AI agent, and “Bei Xiaohui,” the first perioperative patient safety AI agent.

According to Guangdong Health Online, together with the previously launched outpatient full-process cloud companion AI agent “Bei Daifu” and exercise prescription AI agent “Bei Xiaokang,” the hospital’s AI “Bei Family” has now covered the full scenarios of outpatient care, hospitalization, surgery, and rehabilitation, injecting strong momentum into the digital and intelligent development of health services for the public.

Covering 70+ Scenarios
AI “Bei Family” Reshapes the Patient Experience

Problems such as “unprofessional inpatient care that leaves family members worried” and “difficulty in predicting risks before and after surgery” have long been real pain points of greatest concern to the public when seeking medical care. In response, PKU Shenzhen Hospital has provided a technology-enabled solution.

As one of the first pilot units for “accompaniment-free care wards” in Guangdong Province, PKU Shenzhen Hospital created “Bei Xiaohu” based on nearly 10 years of smart ward construction experience and three years of clinical care data from 158,000 patients, in cooperation with Shenzhen Lachesis Mobile Medical Technology Co., Ltd.

With the help of AI large model technology, “Bei Xiaohu” builds a closed-loop collaborative model of “nurse-led – nursing assistant-executed – patient participation – nurse quality control” through one core intelligent engine, four terminals, and one management platform. From condition assessment, plan generation, and task execution to risk warning, family connection, and quality control, it realizes closed-loop management of the entire patient process, making specialized nursing more precise and care services more efficient, and effectively solving the dilemma of “one person hospitalized, the whole family exhausted.”

It is reported that with the launch of “Bei Xiaohu” and “Bei Xiaohui,” the AI agent “Bei Family” at PKU Shenzhen Hospital has covered the full scenarios of outpatient care, hospitalization, surgery, and rehabilitation, with more than 70 implemented application scenarios. A patient-centered new model of digital and intelligent healthcare is taking shape at an accelerating pace.

“AI healthcare brings not only tool upgrades, but also the reshaping of the entire medical service system,” said Chen Chuntao, director of the Information Center of PKU Shenzhen Hospital. By building the distinctive AI agent brand “Bei Family” and empowering high-quality hospital development with digital intelligence, the hospital has not only improved the refinement of hospital management, but also made medical services more humane and warm.

Liang Zhen, president of PKU Shenzhen Hospital, said that the hospital is sprinting to new heights with a more systematic layout, striving to create a demonstrative new model of digital and intelligent healthcare, supporting the high-quality development of a multi-campus hospital group, and enabling the public to have a greater sense of benefit and security in digital and intelligent medical and health services.

China’s First Group Standard for Hospital Digital-Intelligent Governance Released

The forum also released China’s first group standard, the Guidelines for Comprehensive Governance and Application of Management-Oriented Big Data in Smart Hospitals.

Under the guidance of the Hospital Management Institute of the National Health Commission, the standard was jointly led by PKU Shenzhen Hospital and the National Association of Health Industry and Enterprise Management. It brings together the wisdom of dozens of top medical institutions in China, covers six core hospital management scenarios—medical affairs, human resources, finance, assets, scientific research, and operations—and clarifies full-process standards for data collection, quality control, AI application, and security governance. It provides important technical support for hospitals transforming from “experience-based management” to “data-driven management.”

Over the years, PKU Shenzhen Hospital has continued to work deeply in the field of smart healthcare. It has published 14 standards and guidelines, published 41 papers, obtained 4 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and published the Compilation of Hospital High-Quality Development Cases—Smart Hospital Construction, among others, forming a virtuous cycle of “practice–research–transformation.”

At the forum, PKU Shenzhen Hospital also signed strategic cooperation agreements with several technology companies, including Shenzhen Lachesis Mobile Medical Technology Co., Ltd., aiming to jointly promote the deep integration of information technology and healthcare, advance the integration of medicine and engineering and collaborative innovation among industry, academia, and research, strengthen the application of domestically developed technologies, accelerate the digital and intelligent transformation and upgrading of hospitals, and work together to build a new ecosystem of digital and intelligent healthcare.
