Growing Toward the Sun, Wisdom First

Jul-01, 2026

Growing toward the sun, wisdom leads the way. Recently, the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, based on actual application scenarios, has integrated cutting-edge technologies such as 5G, AI, and the Internet of Things to comprehensively advance the construction of full-process, doctor-nurse integrated smart wards, realizing data interconnection among multiple parties including doctors, nurses, patients, and management, and ushering in a new era of high-quality development for the hospital.

Upon admission, patients wear a unique identification wristband. During hospitalization, all medical activities are carried out through scanning with the NDA clinical mobile terminal to complete the “Three Checks and Seven Verifications,” eliminating human errors and ensuring patient safety.

The bedside interactive system connects the nurse station, wards, corridors, restrooms, and other settings into one, enabling real-time cross-scenario information interaction. When patients need assistance, they can call with one touch, and medical staff respond immediately, improving communication timeliness among doctors, nurses, and patients and enhancing the patient experience.

The bedside interactive system automatically obtains arrangements for patient vital sign measurements, examinations, and laboratory tests, and pushes them to the bedside arm screen, allowing patients to know their diagnosis and treatment schedules, examination arrangements, and corresponding precautions in advance. Patients can also actively view examination reports and cost lists, keeping track of their treatment progress at any time and reducing hospitalization anxiety.

The bedside screen displays patient information, allergy history, and risk items in real time, reducing information gaps. Medical staff, patients, and family members work together to prevent risks, while also increasing engagement in treatment.

Patients can easily complete meal ordering, entertainment, satisfaction surveys, and other activities through the bedside arm screen. The screen automatically turns off on a schedule and adjusts brightness according to ambient light, avoiding disturbance to patients’ nighttime rest.

Patients can watch personalized education videos in bed, and the education content can be converted into voice broadcast with one click, allowing them to rest while listening.

Nurses can adjust the ward door screen for special nursing needs, reducing the disclosure of illness details to unrelated personnel and respecting patient privacy.

The Smart Ward Interactive Platform (hereinafter referred to as the “Interactive Platform”) serves as the data hub for interconnected data in the ward. Ward overviews, nursing tasks, patient information, and more are clear at a glance, enabling proactive risk identification, timely warning, and early intervention. It simplifies medical and nursing workflows, improves shift handover efficiency, and ensures that key nursing priorities are continuously followed up.

The Interactive Platform aggregates and distills data on patient admission assessments, diagnoses, medication use, treatment, and other areas, providing comprehensive, dynamic, and accurate diagnosis and treatment data for mobile ward rounds and shift handovers by medical and nursing staff.

When patients call through the bedside interactive system, the nurse station host responds promptly, the interactive large screen accurately identifies the calling bed, and the NDA clinical mobile terminals carried by nurses respond immediately. This multi-terminal mutual calling, real-time response, and intelligent task assignment ensure that no patient need is missed. In emergencies, one-touch calling for reinforcement accurately locates the bed where the incident occurs, safeguarding patient life safety.

The Interactive Platform creates a closed-loop surgical education system connecting operating rooms, nurse stations, and wards. Nurses can push intelligent educational content according to clinical scenario needs such as patient status, risk assessment results, medical orders, and laboratory and examination results, optimizing ward workflows and enhancing patient trust and satisfaction.

Intelligent and standardized nursing operations reduce nurses’ burden and improve efficiency.

With the NDA clinical mobile terminal, the “Three Checks and Seven Verifications” can be completed with one click during hospitalization. Through the mobile nursing workstation, nurses can complete most of their work at the patient’s bedside. Vital sign data are automatically collected and entered, and nursing records are synchronized and uploaded in real time, greatly improving work efficiency.

During ward rounds, doctors can use the bedside arm screen to access a 360-degree view of the patient with one click, viewing the patient’s medical records, imaging data, laboratory results, medication records, and other information, and communicating with the patient about their condition at the bedside.

The Interactive Platform has a built-in ward quality control center that tracks four key areas: high-risk items, nursing levels, abnormal vital signs, and verification execution. It also monitors department indicators such as ward operational efficiency, nurse-patient service data, and education status. AI-powered multi-dimensional statistical analysis and decision support enable refined department management, improve management efficiency and emergency response speed, and support the hospital’s refined management.

In recent years, the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University has continuously advanced toward the goal of building a new highland of precision medicine. Taking information technology development as a key driver, it has comprehensively implemented refined management, continuously improved performance management, and gradually realized smart management, smart services, and smart healthcare, contributing to the Healthy China initiative.
